Care Instructions

We believe that every piece of jewelry will last as long as you want to...if you take good care of it! We work with the best quality materials such as sterling silver, solid gold and stainless steel. But it is important to let you know that even the best quality of silver will tarnish.

Here we have compile the best 10 suggestions for you to take good care of your jewelry:

1. Keep your jewelry away from cleaning products: Cleaning products have chemicals that can result in potential damage, even to solid gold pieces.

2. Take off your jewelry when doing your most common daily tasks: cleaning, gardening, taking a shower, applying lotions, hairspray, perfume and makeup.

3. Take off your jewelry when changing clothes: your jewelry can cling to different types of fabric and can break or rip.

4. Remove your jewelry in pools or spas: the chlorine can affect the color and can result in potential damage to your pieces.

5. DO NOT use paper towels or tissues to clean your jewelry: The fibers that exist in these products can cause scratching.

6. Use jewelry cleaning or polishing cloths regularly: Everyday dust or dirt can clog jewelry settings and make stones, chains and pearls appear dull and faded. You can use the cloths before wearing your jewelry or before storing it.

7. Store individual jewelry pieces in sealed zip-close bags: Sometimes we bought a piece of jewelry and it comes in a cute box or bag. But reality is that these faux velvet bags can also cause your jewelry to tarnish.

 8. Keep your jewelry off excessive light or heat: Just as the sun's rays, that can be harmful to our skin, light and heat can affect gemstone's colors and durability.

9. Avoid bringing jewelry to the bathroom: When we are showering, bathing or even brushing our teeth, the moisture in the room leaves the air and surfaces full of water. This moisture aid jewelry in tarnishing more quickly.

10. Make your own cleanser: Sometimes the jewelry cleaners that we found off the shelves can even cause future damage to jewelry if we use them excessively. There are a lot of recipes out there that are safer cleaning methods.

homemade jewelry cleaning solutions:

1. Dish Soap solution: Put a few drops of mild dish soap in warm water. Let your pieces soak in the solution for a few minutes, clean with a very soft brush, rinse with lukewarm water and gently dry it with a soft cloth.

2. Vinegar Solution: Soak silver jewelry in 1/2 cup white vinegar and 2 tbps of baking soda for 2-3 hours. Rinse them in cold water and then dry them with a soft cloth.

3. Bring to a boil: This method is only reserved for silver, gold, platinum, and diamonds. Do not use this method with gemstones, opals or pearls. Place jewelry in a heatproof container, then slowly pour boiling water over it until covered. Let jewelry sit for a few minutes or until the water has cooled. Remove jewelry from the bowl and wipe away grime with a clean cloth. Let jewelry dry before putting it away.

 4. Toothpaste Solution: This method is great for tough-to-reach nooks. All you need is water, a soft baby toothbrush and toothpaste (not gel). Dilute toothpaste with water, then scrub onto the jewelry. Clean with a soft microfiber cloth, rinse with lukewarm water and let it dry before storing it.

5. Baking Soda Solution: Do not use this method with gemstones, opals or pearls. This solution is great for stubborn tarnish. All you need is baking soda, salt, aluminum foil and boiling water.  Line a glass container with aluminum foil (dull side facing down) and place the silver pieces on top of it. Then pour boiling water over the pieces until they are covered and add 2 tbsp of baking soda and salt. Stir the solution to allow the baking soda to dissolve and to prevent any granules from scratching the metal. Leave the pieces from 5-10 minutes and then you will see the tarnish transfer to the foil. Remove silver jewelry and rinse it with water. Dry and buff with a soft cloth.
